There has been so much emphasis on the outer forms of religion and religious rituals – that the spirit of religiousness and religiosity are completely forgotten. This must be corrected, and the Sufis alone can do it. For, they live in the very spirit of religiousness and religiosity. And, what is this spirit? This is seeing the Face of God in all directions. This is finding God in all places. This is serving God who envelopes all that is while at the same time abiding in each and every heart.

Anand Krishna’s “Sufi Solutions” is a response to the material world of desire and ego. The solutions offered are based on “Mental Peace” which can only be achieved through the alchemy of “Divine Love”. It is through this love alone that we can gain the “Grace of God”. OTHER COMMENTS
Dear Pak Anand,
Thank you for sending the manuscript for your latest book, Sufi Solutions to the World’s Problems.
Once again you dedicate yourself to the noble project of ‘using words to go beyond words’ to the wisdom of the heart, which transcends all boundaries through love.
In today’s world, when religions are so often perverted into justifications for suspicion and hostility, we sorely need this reminder that we can find the well-spring of compassion and understanding in each of our hearts.
Your beautiful selection of verses from the Qur’an and poetical excerpts from the writings of great seekers also remind us of our debt to Islam’s Sufi tradition for such wisdom. We see through this selection that humanity is called to know God’s loving compassion and to give expression to it in practical ways, even in the midst of our modern lives. But you rightly caution against turning this Sufi heritage into yet another ‘ism’ that divides one person and one faith-group from another, even while it purports to cleanse the heart of self-aggrandisement.
The rich insights in this book will, I’m sure, contribute to the spread of harmony and good will in Indonesia and across the world.
With all good wishes,
Professor Julia D. Howell

Avoid false attributions of bias to Sufi masters, such as Imam Ghazzali, and ignore baseless ascriptions of violence to the lodestone of Truth, the Noble Qur’an.
Instead, go to the heart of the matter, the heart of Love celebrated in poetry and dance, from Africa to Arabia to Asia, by all seekers of the One. That is the message of Anand Krishna. It is not a message for the few, but for the many. It is not mere words, it is a call to live a life from the heart for the whole, the whole person who also embodies the wholeness of humanity.
